1968 Mercedes-Benz 280 SEL (W108)

Mercedes-Benz W108 ตัวแทนของ Mercedes-Benz ยุคสุดท้ายที่เป็นงานออกแบบโดย Paul Bracq และประกอบด้วยมือ รถ 280 SEL W108 มีการผลิตเพียง 8,250 คัน ในช่วงปี 1968-1971 โดยคันนี้เป็นรถพวงมาลัยขวา ตัวถังฐานล้อยาว สีทูโทนแท้ พร้อมออพชั่นระบบปรับอากาศและกระจกไฟฟ้าจากโรงงาน จดทะเบียนในประเทศไทยตั้งแต่ปี 1975

รถผ่านการบูรณะมาแล้วอย่างพิถีพิถันและครบวงจรโดยเน้นการเปลี่ยนอะไหล่ใหม่จาก Mercedes-Benz เพื่อความสมบูรณ์มากที่สุด เริ่มตั้งแต่ภายนอกรถทำใหม่เป็นสีตัวถังรหัสเดิม 462 H – Tunis Beige Metallic ตัดกับครึ่งบนที่เปลี่ยนจากเดิมสีดำ 040 - Black มาเป็นน้ำตาล Tobacco Brown พร้อมทั้งฟื้นฟูสภาพอะไหล่โครเมียมและเปลี่ยนคิ้วขอบยางทั้งหมดทุกชิ้น

ภายในรถมีการหุ้มเบาะหนังใหม่ พรม และชิ้นส่วนไม้ เปลี่ยนใหม่ด้วยอะไหล่นำเข้าจากยุโรปเพื่อความถูกต้องตามแบบฉบับดั้งเดิมมากที่สุด

ขุมพลังเครื่องยนต์เบนซิน 6 สูบเรียง ขนาด 2.8 ลิตร ระบบส่งกำลังเปลี่ยนใหม่จากเกียร์ธรรมดาเดิมเป็นแบบเกียร์อัตโนมัติ 4 สปีดโดยใช้ชิ้นส่วนถูกต้องของ รถ W108 ทั้งหมด รวมไปถึงคันเกียร์แบบคอพวงมาลัย (Column Shifter)

เครื่องยนต์กลไกผ่านการ Overhaul มาแล้ว ตั้งแต่เครื่องยนต์ ระบบหัวฉีด Mechanical Injection ที่ปรับสภาพใหม่โดย BOSCH Germany ระบบระบายความร้อน เกียร์อัตโนมัติ ระบบเบรค ช่วงล่าง ระบบไฟฟ้า ทั้งหมดได้รับการปรับปรุงใหม่ไปจนถึง Nut & Bolt ทุกตัวของรถที่เลือกใช้ของ Mercedes-Benz แท้ๆ และทำไปชุบเพิ่มเติมเพื่อความสวยงามและทนทาน

ความสมบูรณ์ของการบูรณะรถคันนี้ได้พิสูจน์แล้วด้วยการคว้ารางวัลชนะเลิศอันดับ 1 ประเภทรถคลาสสิก (ปีการผลิต 1960-1970) ในการประกวดรถโบราณครั้งที่ 41 โดยสมาคมรถโบราณแห่งประเทศไทย

ในปัจจุบัน 280 SEL คันนี้ได้รับการบำรุงรักษาเป็นอย่างดี ยังคงอยู่สภาพสมบูรณ์พร้อมขับ

The Mercedes-Benz W108 represents the final era of hand-built Mercedes-Benz saloons, styled by Paul Bracq. Only 8,250 units of the 280 SEL W108 were produced between 1968-1971. This one is a right-hand-drive, long-wheelbase, factory two-tone example. It comes equipped with factory air conditioning and power windows, and has been registered in Thailand since 1975.

The car has undergone a meticulous and comprehensive restoration, focusing on using new Mercedes-Benz replacement parts to achieve the highest standard. The exterior was refinished in the original factory color code 462 H – Tunis Beige Metallic, paired with a roof repainted from its original 040 Black to Tobacco Brown. All chrome trim pieces were either restored or replaced, and every rubber seals around the vehicle was replaced with brand new pieces.

Inside, the seats have been newly upholstered in leather, with new carpeting and wooden trim. All materials were sourced from Europe to maintain period correctness and factory authenticity.

Power comes from a replacement fuel-injected 2.8-liter inline-six engine. The transmission has been upgraded from the original manual to a 4-speed automatic, using proper W108 components, including the signature column-mounted gear selector.

The mechanical systems have been fully overhauled, from the engine, Bosch mechanical fuel injection system (refurbished in Germany), cooling system, automatic gearbox, brakes, suspension, and electrical system. Even down to the nuts and bolts, every fastener has been replaced with genuine Mercedes-Benz hardware and zinc-plated for improved appearance and durability.

The quality of this restoration was formally recognized with a First Place award in the Classic Car category (produced in 1960–1970) at the 41st Thailand Classic Car Concours, hosted by the Vintage Car Club of Thailand. Currently, this 280 SEL is carefully maintained and remains in excellent condition, fully operational and ready to drive.
