1952 Mercedes-Benz 300 "Adenauer"

The Mercedes-Benz 300 (W186) was introduced in 1951 as the brand’s first flagship luxury sedan of the post-war era, marking a return to prominence. Built on a newly developed and racing derived X-frame chassis, it reflected both engineering ambition and the economic recovery of post-war West Germany.

The model later became widely known as the “Adenauer,” named after Konrad Adenauer, the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, who used a series of the W189 as official state vehicles. This association established the 300 as a symbol of authority and prestige.

Originally powered by the M186 3.0-litre inline-six engine, the W186 was engineered for durability, refinement, and long-distance usability. Notably, it was developed with effectively no defined cruising speed, capable of sustained top speed travel for extended periods without compromise. Its separate chassis construction and well-developed suspension further contributed to its reputation for comfort and reliability

Today, the 300 “Adenauer” is regarded as one of the most significant post-war Mercedes-Benz models, valued for its rarity and historical importance.

This example is a right-hand-drive car completed in 1952, finished in silver and blue two-tone over a light grey interior with blue piping. First registered in Thailand in January 1953, it has remained under long-term ownership for almost 30 years and is noted to have been preserved in a completely unchanged condition under current ownership.

Originally equipped with the M186 engine, the car is now fitted with a later Mercedes-Benz M130.980 inline-six, paired with a column-shifted automatic transmission. This update enhances comfort and drivability, making the car more usable for regular driving while retaining its iconic classic Mercedes character.

ชื่อเรียกอย่างไม่เป็นทางการ “Adenauer” เกิดจากการที่ Konrad Adenauer นายกรัฐมนตรีคนแรกของสหพันธ์สาธารณรัฐเยอรมนี เลือกใช้รถรุ่นนี้เป็นรถประจำตำแหน่งในช่วงปี 1949–1963 ส่งผลให้ Mercedes-Benz 300 กลายเป็นภาพจำของรถประจำบุคคลสำคัญและผู้นำระดับประเทศ

รถ 300 ถูกสร้างด้วยแนวคิด “no natural cruising speed” หรือไม่มีความเร็วเดินทางที่ตายตัว รถจึงสามารถขับเดินทางที่ความเร็วสูงต่อเนื่องได้เป็นเวลานานได้โดยไม่มีปัญหาใดๆ ส่วนโครงสร้างแชสซีแบบ X-frame และระบบกันสะเทือนอิสระทั้งสี่ล้อก็มอบความสบายในการเดินทาง

W186 คันนี้ผลิตในปี 1952 นับเป็นรุ่นแรกในสายการผลิต หรือที่เรียกกันว่า “300 a” ซึ่งมีผลิตเพียง 4,563 คันในปัจจุบันรถขับเคลื่อนด้วยเครื่องยนต์หกสูบเรียง Mercedes-Benz รหัส M130 ขนาด 2.8 ลิตร จ่ายเชื้อเพลิงด้วยหัวฉีด จับคู่กับเกียร์อัตโนมัติที่เลือกเกียร์ผ่าน Column shifter เหนือคอพวงมาลัย ให้การขับขี่ที่ทันสมัยขึ้นเพื่อใช้ได้ในหลากหลายโอกาส

รถจดทะเบียนในประเทศไทยในเดือนมกราคม 1953 และอยู่ในการครอบครองโดยผู้ครอบครองปัจจุบันมาเกือบ 30 ปี โดยในการครอบครองปัจจุบัน รถไม่ได้ถูกปรับแต่งหรือดัดแปลงใดๆ และถูกเก็บรักษาเป็นอย่างดีในคงอยู่ในสภาพสมบูรณ์
