Introduced in 1972, the Royal Oak reference 5402 is the original model that launched Audemars Piguet’s groundbreaking luxury sports watch in stainless steel. Designed by Gérald Genta, the reference established the design language that would define the Royal Oak collection for decades.
Production began with the celebrated A-series, followed by subsequent batches through the late 1970s. The present example belongs to the D-series, dating to the late 1970s to early 1980s production period.
