How Selling Works

Consigning with Collins begins with a conversation. Share the details of your piece and our specialists review it within two business days. If it matches our intake criteria, we agree the right approach together — auction, private sale, or buy now — then handle photography, documentation, marketing, and every buyer enquiry on your behalf.

1

Tell us about your piece

Complete our consignment form. We review within two business days and confirm whether your piece matches our intake criteria.

2

Decide how to sell

We work with you on the approach, the services included, and pricing. Once agreed, we arrange inspection.

3

We prepare & photograph

Inspection, professional photography, a detailed description, and (for auction) an estimate and reserve recommendation — sent to you for approval within five working days.

4

Go live

We schedule, publish, market, handle enquiries, manage bidding, and complete the paperwork after the sale.

Frequently Asked Questions

Normally, it takes two to three weeks, depending on how much required information we can gather from the seller. However, we encourage setting aside an additional two weeks for marketing outreach so that we can find more buyers to compete for your piece.

It is not necessary, but you must have the relevant documents proving that you have the right to sell the piece.

Most conditions are welcome, you just need to make sure the piece is legally registered (where applicable), legally acquired, and ready for ownership transfer. Please refer to our vehicle acceptance guideline for more details about what we accept or may not accept.

It is not mandatory to leave your piece with us. However, we may arrange to collect it when necessary for viewing appointments or an event auction day.

You can set a reserve price, which will be the minimum price you would accept. If the auction ends with the highest bid not exceeding your reserve price, the lot will not be sold. However, we can connect you with the highest bidder, which might lead you to conclude the deal.
